If These Spasms Could Speak

An outstanding solo performance based on a collection of funny, sad, touching and surprising stories about disabled people and their bodies. Created and performed by actor Robert Softley (co-creator of National Theatre of Scotland’s Girl X)

No matter where you go during the festival – you will encounter something Magical. The Occupy Dumfries project is a celebration of our achievement as a town – making it to the short list of the Creative Place Award.
To celebrate – twelve very special pieces of pop-up public art have been commissioned which ask you to imagine what living in Dumfries might have felt like in the past? Prepare to be warmed during our Winter Festival as local artists mark the countdown to the awards, with twelve very different statements about the next twelve creative months.

Pure physical theatre inspired by Carol Ann Duffy’s collection of fairy tales. This immersive experience leads the audience into a highly visual world where objects and stories come to life.

Jordan wanted to find out if her mother’s insanity is super-sanity? In this coming of age piece of live art, the 19 year old emerges from her childhood to figure out if mental health is really contagious.

BURNS TEA DANCE

Fiddles will be at the ready as we take a stroll down memory lane with a toe-tapping Tea Dance. Young and old can come together on the dance floor under the spectacular setting of the 1920’s Spiegeltent, where auld dance steps and moves are brought to life. Soup, rolls and Dundee Cake will be topped up with a good old fashioned cuppa.
